Description

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has received notice from Cameco Corporation of its intent to apply for authorization to construct a mining facility at the Cigar Lake site in northern Saskatchewan. The Cigar Lake site is licensed with a Site Preparation - Excavation Licence under the Nuclear Safety and Control Act. Before the Commission makes its decision on Cameco's application to construct the Cigar Lake uranium mine, an environmental assessment will be completed in compliance with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
