Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Sustainable Water Resource Agreement

Description

An agreement between Quebec, Ontario and the eight Great Lakes States to collectively protect these shared waters. The agreement defines sustainable development objectives, protection of shared waters, and defines common decision-making rules. Prohibition of diversions and prevention of massive water transfers, along with assessment of cumulative impacts of water withdrawals will help to protect long term water supply and wildlife habitat.
