Protecting Water Resources with Higher Density Development

BOOKMARK

LINK: http://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth/water_density.htm

Description

A publication outlining recommendations on community development for water resource protection. Scenario modeling is used to look at development density at three scales: one acre level, lot level, and watershed level. Higher density scenarios generated less runoff water per house at all scales, had lower impervious cover, and less impacts on the watershed. Recommendations on a range of land use strategies based on local factors are included.
