Description

Economic valuation of ecosystems is a rapidly developing discipline, and there are now many different methods available for undertaking different aspects and purposes of wetland valuation. This report is intended to assist Contracting Parties in having economic valuation information better available for decision-making on wetlands.

The report provides advice on when and why wetland valuation should be undertaken and sets out a five-step framework for the integrated assessment and valuation of wetland services, with descriptions of available methods for undertaking each of these steps. These are supplemented by case studies from around the world of where different aspects of wetland valuation have supported decision-making, and by sources of further information on wetland valuation.
