Economic Evaluation of Outfitted Hunting and Fishing
Description
This economic impact evaluation was undertaken by Saskatchewan Environment to provide a basis for ongoing policy and decision making processes. The study focuses on the primary theme of economic impact and secondarily on the social and environmental impacts of non-outfitted sport fishing and commercial fishing in the province. As well, analysis of fishing trends, elasticity of demand regarding license fees, and an inter-jurisdictional analysis of fishing license structures were undertaken.
Three populations were identified for study including:
- Saskatchewan residents who fished without the services of an outfitter
- Non-Saskatchewan non-outfitted sport anglers who fished in the province, and
- Commercial fishers
