Description

CWI partners, including several provinces and academic institutions, have now developed standards for detecting, classifying and mapping wetlands by the different wetland types across Canada. To see if a wetland inventory has been completed or is in progress in your area, visit the interactive map at maps.ducks.ca/cwi. Explore the map tool to discover the different types of wetlands near you. The objectives of the Canadian Wetland Inventory are to provide a national wetland inventory that can be used for the conservation and sustainable management of wetlands for environmental and societal benefits. The CWI will also provide easy access to digitally mapped and classified wetlands using standardized data structure and management protocols. Note: Although wetland inventories have been completed for some areas of the country, large gaps still persist.
