Access to practical tools & resources to help Canadians better understand and conserve wetlands.

Description

World Wetlands Day is celebrated February 2 each year, marking the date of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands in 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.

The purpose of the celebration is to raise public awareness of wetland values and benefits, and to promote wetland conservation. Many government agencies, non-government organizations and community groups host events to celebrate. Consider joining in on an event in your community.

The Ramsar Bureau offers posters, brochures, background reports, e-cards, and screensavers for World Wetlands Day.
