Description

The Environment and Sustainable Development Indicators (ESDI) Initiative is a three-year multistakeholder program of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy, aimed at developing a small set of credible and understandable indicators to track whether Canada's current economic activities threaten the way of life for future generations. Proposed national indicators include air quality, surface water-quality, conversion of agricultural land to urban use, total area of forest cover, extent of wetlands, monetized stocks of non-renewable resources, and human capital (education attainment).
