Description

The North American Wetlands Conservation Council (Canada) advises the Minister of the Environment on the development, coordination and implementation of wetland conservation initiatives of national or international importance. The Council:

  • coordinates and implements the North American Waterfowl Management Plan
  • facilitates and monitors the development and implementation of wetland conservation policies and awareness programs
  • facilitates Canadian involvement in international wetland conservation initiatives
  • offers a training course, “Working with Wetlands” targeting federal officials
  • publishes and distributes papers on wetland conservation policy, management and science issues
