Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board




This site provides an introduction to the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act which was implemented by the federal government to provide northerners decision-making participation and responsibility in environmental and natural resource matters. The legislation establishes co-management boards for the Sahtu and Gwich'in settlement areas with responsibilities for land use planning and for issuing land use permits and water use licences. Information is provided on the role of departments in preliminary screening, environmental assessment, environmental impact review.
