Description

This video demonstrates wetland field assessment methods that support application of three assessment tools developed to evaluate shallow open water marshes built as part of oil sands mine reclamation. Although the tools that these methods support are specific to Alberta's Boreal Ecoregion and mine related stress, the sampling methods detailed in the video are broadly applicable and this resource may be a useful guide for any sampling application. The video is meant to accompany a written handbook on how to apply the three tools: the stress gradient, the wet meadow vegetation index of biological integrity, and the floating and submersed aquatic vegetation index of biological integrity.
