Ecological Gifts Program

Private and corporate landowners in all provinces and territories of Canada can now make donations of ecologically sensitive land, or interests in these lands, without taxation penalties, under this program. You may qualify to make a donation of an ecological gift under the federal Income Tax Act or the Loi de l'impôt sur le revenu of Quebec. Ecological gifts may be gifts of the full title to a property, or of the value of a conservation easement, covenant or servitude attached to that title as defined under the particular legislation of your province or territory. You may donate it outright or choose to keep it, but with restricted long-term use or perhaps restricted access.
